The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is pleased to open the public stakeholder consultation for Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM). This consultation is a mandatory step in the GFSI benchmarking process to allow for industry-wide input regarding the certification programme’s alignment with the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements Version 2024.

From 17 June 2026 to 17 July 2026 at midnight CET, we invite all interested stakeholders to participate and share their feedback on JFSM’s GFSI benchmarking report.

Scope of Application

Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM) has applied for recognition for:

  • JFS-C Standard Version 3.2 and
  • JFS-C Certification Program Document Ver.3.2

against the following GFSI scopes:

  • CI – Processing of Perishable Animal Products
  • CII – Processing of Perishable Plant Products
  • CIII – Processing of Perishable Animal and Plant Products (Mixed Products)
  • CIV – Processing of Ambient Stable Animal and Plant Products (Mixed Products)
  • K – Production of (Bio) Chemicals and Bio-cultures Used as Food Ingredients or Processing Aids in Food Production

Invitation for Input

GFSI invites all interested stakeholders to review the assessment documents and provide technical comments regarding the programme’s conformity to the GFSI Requirements.

About Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM)

Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM) established January 2016, provides post farm gate food safety management standards harmonized to international standards including general principles of food hygiene, HACCP system and guideline for its application of Codex; they also include all requirements of ISO 22000 and operate under ISO/IEC 17021 accreditation.

JFSM offers three programs (JFS-A, JFS-B, and JFS-C) as a stepwise, modular food safety management system which allow food businesses to build and improve food safety measures progressively, starting from basic hygiene (JFS-A) up to full international certification (JFS-C).

Version JFS-C Standard is the only GFSI recognised Standard in the series. The certification program document Version 3.2 was published in May 2024 with the Standard Document Version 3.2 published in May 2025 with audits starting from October 2025.
