PARIS, 28 June 2023
GFSI has initiated the systematic review of its current set of Benchmarking Requirements (BMR) with a view to publish a new version by end of year 2024.
Upon initiation of the review, GFSI Benchmarking Requirements, Version 2020, Part I, state: “In the year prior to the publication of a new version of the GFSI BMR, no new application will be accepted. A notice will be displayed on the GFSI website to indicate the starting date of this one-year period.”
Part I also states: “Additionally, GFSI will not accept any applications for scope extension from existing Certification Programme Owners in the last six months before the publication of a new version of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements. This does not apply to sub-versions of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements.”
Based on this, all applications for GFSI recognition from 1 September 2023 onwards will be systematically rejected and will have to be put on hold until the publication of the new version of the BMR.
In terms of process, it is the Stakeholder Advisory Forum Working Group who provides the GFSI Steering Committee with expert advice on amendments to the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements and Technical Equivalence requirements.
