On 30 September, the GFSI Japan Local Group hosted an event for young to mid-career employees, aiming to foster greater pride and a sense of fulfilment in food safety work. Thirty food safety and quality assurance personnel from sixteen CGF member companies attended.
The essential role of food safety employees
During the first part, participants reflected on the significance of food safety work through individual activities and group exercises. Additionally, they listened to a lecture by Megmilk Snow Brand, who had previously experienced a food poisoning incident, further deepening their understanding of the work’s importance gained from the earlier exercises.
In the latter part, participants divided into groups based on shared challenges and discussed food safety themes of mutual interest. The final session allowed participants to freely discuss their personal concerns and questions they wished to pose to other companies.
Building Bridges and Networks
From the moment they entered the venue, attendees actively engaged with one another, and conversations flourished throughout the event. The organising team’s initial worries about whether everyone would participate proved entirely unfounded. The beverages, light refreshments, and snacks generously donated by many companies also played a significant role in creating a relaxed atmosphere and stimulating conversation. Thank you to all the donors!
Post-event surveys confirmed that the vast majority of participants gained a personal understanding of the significance of food safety work. Furthermore, it was clear that participants wished to utilise the network of members from other companies established during this event in their work.
As this event concluded as a resounding success, we are keen to continue it in future years.
