PARIS, 29th January 2021 – The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) today launches its all-new GFSI Podcast Series. The series will welcome food safety experts from across the spectrum of sectors and stakeholders that form part of the broader GFSI community to discuss the latest happenings in the world of food safety.

The first episode, “Food Safety: Rethink, Reset, Recharge”, features Erica Sheward, Director at GFSI, who looks back on 2020 and the impact of COVID-19 on food safety, and looks ahead to all the new and exciting actions taking shape within GFSI. These include updates on the Race to the Top framework, Global Markets Programme, Government-to-Business dialogues and the upcoming GFSI Conference.

Linda Okpala, host of the new GFSI Podcast Series, said, “2020 was such a difficult year for so many reasons, but we are excited to kick 2021 off on a positive note with the launch of this new series. GFSI has a steadfast commitment to working with all our stakeholders and improving trust in food safety standards globally. The new podcast series will welcome a variety of voices to help us provide regular and transparent updates on where GFSI is and what actions are being implemented and challenges faced by the GFSI community. We need to tell more stories about the great work being done by our community around the world, and we need to build better relationships with our external audiences. We believe the new podcast series will help us achieve this”.

Episodes will be published each month, and will be available via Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the GFSI website. The series represents the fourth podcast series presented by The Consumer Goods Forum, following the launch of its Corporate Podcast Series and those on Sustainability and the End-to-End Value Chain.

About Global Food Safety Initiative

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) brings together key actors in the food industry to collaboratively drive continuous improvement in food safety management systems around the world. With a vision of safe food for consumers everywhere, food industry leaders created GFSI in 2000 to find collaborative solutions to collective concerns, notably to reduce food safety risks, audit duplication and costs while building trust throughout the supply chain. The GFSI community works on a volunteer basis and is composed of the world’s leading food safety experts from retail, manufacturing and food service companies, as well as international organisations, governments, academia and service providers to the global food industry. GFSI is powered by the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), a global industry network working to support Better Lives Through Better Business. For more information, please visit www.mygfsi.com.
