As part of our development of Version 8 of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements, GFSI is very pleased to submit our proposed additions addressing hygienic design for a public stakeholder consultation.

Back in February, we decided on our objectives for this next version of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements. Since then, GFSI and our key experts and stakeholders have worked relentlessly to reach these goals by the end of February 2020. This latest public consultation aims to conclude our developmental work with the inclusion of two new scopes of recognition:

•    JI: the design and construction of equipment and facilities dedicated to the production of food by the provider of such services. This scope includes:
o    Manufacturers of equipment for farms, food production facilities, food retail, wholesale operations and packaging dedicated to food.
o    The architect designing food handling facilities, including farm buildings, food manufacturing and storage facilities.
o    The builders of above facilities.

•    JII: specifying, purchasing, designing and constructing of equipment and facilities by farmers, food manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and packaging manufacturers for their own use.

You can watch the chairs of the working groups who delivered these guidelines speak on hygienic design here, and more generally on Version 8 here.

Please note that this Consultation is now closed. Be sure to subscribe to GFSI News to be notified of any upcoming Consultations.
