GFSI is opening a new public consultation and is calling for stakeholder participation and comments.
BRC Global Standards issued a new version of their standard for Food. Already a GFSI-recognised programme for many scopes, BRCGS wishes to retain the GFSI recognition of their food standard with this new version and asked to be re-assessed.
“Ensuring global applicability and benchmarking to the GFSI version 7.2 had been a key focus in updating our issue 8 Standard,” said Mark Proctor, CEO, BRCGS. “Issue 8 has evolved with a continued emphasis on management commitment, encouraging development of product safety culture and encouraging sites to further develop systems for security and food defence. The continuing objective has been to direct the focus of the audit towards the implementation of good manufacturing practices within the production areas with additional emphasis on areas which have traditionally resulted in recalls and withdrawals.”
Why a Consultation?
Open stakeholder consultations are an important step in this process to ensure the greatest transparency and objectivity, and are conducted after the desktop self-assessment review and the office visit led by an independent benchmark leader.
