PARIS, 27 August 2018 – The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Canadian Grain Commission has achieved Technical Equivalence against Version 7.1 of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements for their CGC HACCP and CIPRS+ HACCP certification programmes. Technical Equivalence is limited to government-owned food safety certification programmes.
The Technical Equivalence of government-owned certification programmes is an acknowledgment of the equivalence of the content of the certification programme to the relevant scope of GFSI Benchmarking Requirements Key Elements (Part III). It is different from GFSI recognition for non-governmental certification programmes, which also includes assessment of the certification programme’s governance and operational management.
GFSI continually evolves its benchmarking requirements to reflect emerging trends in food safety, industry best practices and stakeholder input.
Commenting on this milestone, Patti Miller, Chief Commissioner, Canadian Grain Commission, said, “The Canadian Grain Commission is pleased to offer programs that meet GFSI’s high standards and will allow certified companies to remain competitive in today’s global food market”.
