GFSI is seeking food safety professionals and services provision experts to participate in a new Technical Working Group (TWG) set to create a new scope of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements addressing services provision to primary processing, food manufacturing and food retail.
Many services provided to primary processing, food manufacturing and food retail, such as laundry, pest control, lab services, sanitation, contracted maintenance, etc. are critical to their pre-requisite programmes and ultimately food safety. The GFSI Board identified an opportunity for a GFSI-recognised certification programme to help the food industry select service providers.
How Can GFSI Help?
Thanks to its wide multi-sector community, GFSI is uniquely positioned to bring key stakeholders together to collectively address food safety matters and the GFSI recognition process drives harmonisation of certification programmes on key topics impacting food safety.
“All of our primary service providers such as the labs, laundry, sanitation, maintenance etc. play an essential role in successful food safety teams and operations around the world. We feel that as we move forward within GFSI, this new working group is an important next step in the assurance of food safety standardisation and guidance from the experts. Exciting times!” – Craig Wilson, Vice President Quality Assurance and Food Safety, Costco Wholesale.
“As GFSI continues to strive to raise the bar on food safety, we are keen to ensure we cover all those areas that contribute to food safety. Provision of key services undoubtably has a key role to play in ensuring consumers get safe food, so we are really excited to embark on this next stage of the GFSI journey.” – Roy Kirby, Director, Global Food Safety, Mondelēz International.
