As part of its current benchmarking series, GFSI is opening two new stakeholder consultations. The latest certification programme owners (CPOs) to have reached this key step in the GFSI benchmarking process are CanadaGAP and PrimusGFS.

Having previously achieved GFSI recognition against prior versions of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements, CanadaGAP and PrimusGFS applied for re-benchmarking upon the release of version 7.1.

The CanadaGAP programme is widely used in Canada and in other parts of North America by fresh fruit and vegetable suppliers seeking to obtain food safety certification and provide assurance to their retail, processing and food service customers.

PrimusGFS is owned and managed by Azzule Systems, a leading provider of global data management throughout all levels of the supply chain.

Why a Re-benchmarking?

GFSI continually evolves its benchmarking requirements to reflect new industry challenges, best practices and stakeholder input. With the publication of a new edition, CPOs are invited to complete a new benchmarking process. This collaborative exercise is one of the key ways by which new requirements are implemented throughout the industry for the benefit of consumers everywhere.

Why a Consultation?

Open stakeholder consultations are an important step in this process to ensure the greatest transparency and objectivity, and are conducted after the desktop self-assessment review led by an independent Benchmark Leader.

A Benchmarking Series

It’s benchmarking season! Following GFSI’s publication of a new version of its requirements, many certification programmes are currently going through the benchmarking process. Over the coming weeks and months, you can expect to see periodic benchmarking updates, consultations and announcements, so stay tuned! You can also check our website at any time to check the status of a benchmarking process.
